Our Story

Crome Interiors is the story of a father, daughter duo, on a quest to revolutionise how you buy beautifully made, high-quality furniture at reasonable prices.

A truly family run business tried and trusted for generations.

With a 40 year combined history in the furniture industry, Darrel and Felicity Crome have transformed the traditional, ‘boring’ furniture buying experience into something relaxed, rewarding and accessible to everyone.

We’re not new kids on the block. In fact, our family has a history in furniture and design which spans over four generations.

Our vision

We believe that buying furniture shouldn’t be a chore, but a rewarding experience. Say goodbye to cheap, syndicated flat-pack furniture and enjoy premium investment pieces at affordable prices.

High-quality furniture anchors the design elements in a room and is often the centrepiece of a carefully curated space. An ill-advised piece of furniture could jeopardise the feel of your home. That’s why we put you first with our bespoke approach to customer service.

We will never hurry, nor push you to make a purchase. We take pride in nurturing a relaxed shopping environment that is accessible to all who desire it.

Our history

1926

The original Crome family business was founded by Mr Frederick William Crome and a friend in 1926 before Frederick took full ownership shortly after.

1945

On his return from the second World War, Fredrick’s son, Donald Crome DFC, a WW2 Halifax & Lancaster Bomber pilot, took over the business. Soon, Donald gained a reputation for providing high-quality British and European furniture outside London to style-conscious homeowners looking for exquisite, investment pieces at reasonable prices.

1964

Donald moved the family business to a purpose-built shop in High Wycombe to better meet the growing demands of homeowners searching for their perfect furniture. This was the year future Crome Interiors co-founder, Darrel Crome, was also born.

1981

Future Crome Interiors co-founder, Darrel Crome, joined his father and quickly honed his craft in every aspect of the business from loading the delivery van to eventually becoming a director in 1991. Business boomed as homeowners flocked to the shop in search of the perfect sofa, cabinet, sideboard and more, to complement their individual stylistic vision.

1984

After 39 years of service, Don sadly died and his wife, Patricia, joined by her son Darrel continued running the family business.

1991

Over several years, Darrel and Patricia pushed the business to the next level. Having grown up immersed in the furniture world, Darrel’s already superb instincts and industry knowledge saw him become a trusted and respected figure in the local community and furniture world.

2019

93 years after the Crome family business opened its doors, Patricia made the difficult decision to close the original shop for the final time.

A bittersweet moment, the Crome family began to prepare for a new age of furniture buying.

2021

And that brings us to today. In partnership with his daughter, Felicity, Crome Interiors was born in midst of a global pandemic as an online store dedicated to providing you with high-quality furniture.

Painstakingly curated to ensure absolute quality, each piece of furniture is made from the very best materials and sourced from the most respected suppliers without compromising on style or sustainability.

2022 and beyond

With the opening of a high-street brick-and-mortar store coming soon, Crome Interiors is set to become a forward-thinking brand that blends traditional values and contemporary furniture, with an on-trend, timeless design.

“My passion for exquisite furniture and the ways in which design can be used to turn a house into a home has never waivered. Crome Interiors is the next chapter in an already extraordinary story, steeped in rich history, traditions and teachings. I will never forget my grandfather’s humble beginning and commitment to furniture that lasts; it’s in our DNA.”
- Darrel Crome, co-founder
